The CKCA is managed from Ottawa, with a full time Executive Director. In addition, the volunteer Board of Directors supports the core work of the Association and works collaboratively with the Executive Director to move the strategic priorities of CKCA forward. Board terms are 3 years in length. We are always keen to hear from individuals who have a strong desire to help move our industry forward. Our board meets monthly via teleconference as well as in person 1-2 times per year.
Mike Slobodian – Decor Cabinet Company
Michael has been with the Decor Cabinet Company since 1994 and his primary focus has been in working with the dealer network. Michael believes in seeing the best in others and helping them succeed. He uses his analytical and logical problem solving skills along with his knowledge of the industry as part of Decor’s Sales & Marketing team. He currently provides leadership to the Marketing, Product and Catalogue teams and is responsible for Decor’s various dealer connection points and software interfaces.
Decor’s Mission is to create cabinets people love, to bring light to the world and the community, to build life into people’s lives and to leave behind more then we take.
Heidi Boudreault – Denca
Born and raised in Calgary, Heidi learned the ins and outs of the custom cabinetry industry at a young age, her passion in business management makes Heidi a perfect fit as General Manager and co-owner at Denca for the past 15 years. Her education includes Finance, Business Management and Marketing. Denca manufactures custom kitchens, vanities, entertainment units and cabinetry for any room in the home/office. Also a supplier for many appliances and plumbing fixtures. Denca is an active member of the Calgary community, proud to have donated kitchens to non-for profit organizations in Calgary and supporting many local charities and events.
Caroline Castrucci – Laurysen Kitchens
Caroline Castrucci is the V.P. of Administration, Past President of the Greater Ottawa Homebuilders Association, and Past President of the Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association. She is the recipient of many GOHBA Design Awards and brings a lifetime of experience as a family member and co-owner of Laurysen Kitchens Ltd. Laurysen Kitchens manufactures kitchens, vanities and closet storage systems. Their sales consist of Retail, Renovation, New Home Construction and Dealers. Caroline commenced her term in 2016 and will continue until 2018.
James Dewinetz, CPA, CMA – Pacific Rim Cabinets
James has been around the cabinet industry his whole life, working in factories as a summer job. His father started Pacific Rim Cabinets in 1997 to manufacture custom cabinets solely for export to Japan. Over the years, while Japan remains an integral part of the company’s history and sales, Pacific Rim Cabinets now deals primarily with the custom home builders, designers and architects around Vancouver and the lower mainland of BC manufacturing custom kitchens, bathroom vanities, entertainment units, closets, fireplace surrounds, offices, among others.
James began working at Pacific Rim Cabinets in 2010 as the company’s accountant, he completed his CMA designation in 2012 and became the company’s Vice-President in 2013.
James works with the CKCA President and the Executive Director to manage and monitor the CKCA Finances on a regular basis.
Sandra Wood, CMP
Sandra has worked in the not-for-profit sector spanning more than 25 years. Having worked for many different associations in education, medical and now the wood sector, Sandra brings a universal perspective based on hands-on experience. She is passionate about not-for-profits because they work to support their members. Sandra enjoys “connecting the dots” and facilitating strong networking opportunities to engage members. She believes Associations are about fostering strong business relationships fueled by an empathic and sound business approach. She is an experienced public speaker, writer and has served on various Board as a Director. She brings a well rounded perspective to CKCA.
Pete Fournier – President, Triangle Group of Companies
Pete is an experienced entrepreneur – he started his first company at the age of 19 and has held a managerial role for 20 years. After finishing his degree in Wood Products Processing at the University of British Columbia, he joined the Triangle Group in 2000, where they currently employ more than 100 staff. Pete is responsible for all aspects and functions of new business development, product development, facility expansion and new markets. Pete is currently Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Wood Manufacturing Council and is also an independent Board Member for a private Nano technology company called Metamaterials Technologies Inc.
Jan Leurdijk – Cancraft Cabinets
Jan has joined the CKCA Board effective 2016. He has been involved in the kitchen industry for a large part of his carer. Currently in the process of setting up his new facility, Jan brings a wealth of knowledge on manufacturing and the industry to the CKCA board.
Jason Warkentin – Superior Cabinets
Jason Warkentin is Superior Cabinets Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain. He joined the Superior family in 2007 and currently provides direction and support to manufacturing operations, supply chain, catalogue and custom department. He is ultimately responsible for the balance of overall efficiencies while supporting innovative solutions to meet clients’ needs. He has a diverse manufacturing background with more than 20 years of experience working in multiple industries. Jason is passionate about Continuous Improvement (CI) and the positive impact CI can have on culture across the organization, supply partners and customers.
Rick Hurst – Richelieu Hardware Ltd.
Rick grew up in the hardware business. As a teenager he worked with his father at AMES Sales, the first importer of European Cabinet Hardware into Canada then known as Martin Hardware until Richelieu acquired it in 1989. Richelieu is a leading North American importer and distributor of hardware and complementary products. Richelieu has nearly 1500 people and half of those are dedicated to sales and marketing. Significantly 70 percent are shareholders. With 90,000 products from around the world, in a wide variety of categories Richelieu stands ready to service the woodworking industry.
Brett Reid – Managing Director, Weinig Holzher Canada
Brett has over 3 decades of experience supplying and servicing the woodworking industry across Canada. Previously Vice President of BC Saw & Tool, Brett has a unique understanding of the manufacturing dynamic between cutting tool and machine as well as a wealth of knowledge of both small and large manufacturing operations and challenges. His desire for continued learning drives Brett to meet one on one with customers, colleagues and to attend trade shows around the world.
Amanda Gay – Marketing Manager, Planit Canada Inc.
With a background in interior design, graphics and communications, Amanda has been the Marketing Manager for Planit Canada Inc. since 2015. Offering best in class software solutions to the Canadian woodworking community, the team includes support technicians with years of experience in millwork and cabinet manufacturing, as well as passionate sales consultants dedicated to offering right-sized solutions to local businesses. Known for contributing the tagline “Be awesome” and for bringing unexpected fun to industry events, Amanda has a love for collaboration and a strong belief that by working together, we create more enriching work lives for everyone.
Peter Lansitie- Hettich Canada LTD.
With its head office production plant just a 1 hour drive outside of Hanover, Germany, Hettich is a German based manufacturer of fittings for kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, offices, hotels and retail stores with its primary production plants.
Peter joined Hettich in 2009 working primarily in the GTA, now now is an Account Manager for Ontario and Manitoba. Hettich is a proud member and supporter of the CKCA and believes that associations provide an opportunity for networking and sharing of knowledge which is fundamentally important to progressive growth of this industry sector.

Gerald Van Woudenberg – Van Arbour Design
Gerald is owner of Van Arbour Design based in Vancouver, BC. In business for 34 years, Gerald is a first generation Canadian with Dutch roots. Gerald loves building and knowing how something works. He is committed to change in an ever changing world and always looks for the best and most effective ways to do things. Gerald’s business is intensively client-driven: quality first, with integrity and honesty and transparency in the process. Gerald has been a presenter at the CKCA National Forum and is now pleased to be a member of the Board of Directors.
Varun Gajendran – Lucvaa Kitchens
Varun has been involved in his family’s custom cabinetry business since it started, but joined full-time in 2016. While working on the marketing aspects for the company, he is learning the operations side of the business and getting to know how our industry functions. With the woodworking industry finally moving towards lean manufacturing and Industry 4.0, Varun is taking Lean Manufacturing courses at University of Toronto to earn his green-belt designation. All in an effort to continue his father’s implementation of lean throughout the company, and maybe the industry. Being a member of the board is a new experience for Varun and is eager to contribute to the future of the CKCA.
